Trustee A founding contributor to the Foundation in 2009, Marcus Wallenberg is Chairman of Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken (SEB), Saab and FAM AB. He is also the Vice-Chairman of Investor AB and is a board member of AstraZeneca, Temasek Holdings and the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation.

Grundandet kunde ske genom bidrag från svenska företag, organisationer och privatpersoner. Sedan grundandet har 2 893 stipendier beviljats. Marcus Wallenberg var bara 15 år när hans pappa Marc begick självmord 1971. För fem år sedan drabbades han av en ny tragedi när hans yngre bror Axel dog efter att i många år ha brottats med en svår sjukdom.–Efter att periodvis under många år ha kämpat med sin sjukdom så orkade han inte längre.
